Diane Keaton co-starred with Jack Nicholson in the 2003 romantic comedy Something’s Gotta Give, directed by Nancy Meyers.

Nicholson and Keaton, aged 66 and 57 at the time, were considered bold choices to star in a romantic comedy, but the characters had been written with them in mind. In the film, Keaton plays a middle-aged playwright who falls in love with her daughter’s much older boyfriend. The film was a hit, grossing over $125 million in North America, and the following year Keaton received her fourth Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for this role. Keaton and Nicholson had known each other for years before making this film, and remain friends.
