Baby Boom is a 1987 comedy movie starring Diane Keaton.

The story behind it runs as such. Keaton plays J.C. Wiatt, a career woman in Manhattan whose work leaves her no time to relax. She doesn’t mind this hectic schedule - however it’s thrown into disarray when she has to inherit a baby from virtually unknown relatives. She has to care for the kid, losing her job and her lover in the process.

Wiatt tries to put the child up for adoption, but soon discovers she loves it too much. She has to reevaluate her life, and in response moves into the country, into a house she didn’t inspect beforehand. Upon moving in she discovers that the place is a mess, and, running out of money, she needs a solution.

Luckily she finds one. She begins selling baby products. And, despite a rough start, Wiatt makes a killing off of it. She soon receives an offer for her company - but she declines, deciding she can handle motherhood and the business.

Baby Boom was enough of a success that it spawned a spinoff television show, though the show was short-lived.

Annie Hall is a 1977 comedy romance movie directed by and starring Woody Allen, with Diane Keaton cast as the other half of the love interest. It was one of Allen’s most popular films and remains so to date.

Allen stars as Alvy Singer, a comedian with a relationship with a girl named Annie (Keaton). The movie chronicles their relationship, and they step into one another’s pasts. Despite this bond, however, they have problems and break up. Annie moves in with someone else.

But Singer realizes he loves her and tries to get her back. This attempt fails, and, dejected, Singer writes a play about the whole affair in which he actually wins her back. They later meet again and reminisce over old times, now with different lovers and on much better terms.

Interestingly enough, Annie Hall was originally meant to be a murder mystery but the producers persuaded Allen to transform it into a romantic comedy during shooting.

Veteran actress Diane Keaton joined newcomer Mandy Moore in the 2007 romantic comedy Because I Said So. The result was a film that did well in the box office yet was overwhelmingly bombed by critics worldwide.

The film opens with mother Daphne (Keaton) and her daughters trying to set the youngest daughter, Milly (Moore) up with a man at an older sister’s wedding reception. The pairing goes well until they all realize he’s actually married.

What follows is a string of unsuccessful set-ups for Milly who has constant trouble trying to find the right man for her, not to mention one particularly disastrous scenario where she meets a man (Joe, played by Stephen Collins) she feels incredible chemstry towards, yet whom ends up with her mother.

Happily the movie ends well for Milly when she ends up with a guitarist, Johnny, who expresses his desire for her in a tender moment.

Unfortunately Because I Said So rated very poorly and was considered the worst movie of the year by many.

Director Francis Ford Coppola had first noticed Keaton in her previous role in Love and Other Strangers, and cast her due to her reputation for eccentricity. In the film, Adams is a non-Italian who initially symbolizes Michael’s desire for a more Americanized life. Later, after he becomes an important part of the crime family, they get married but Adams continues to believe that he is uninvolved in criminal activates, until she learns the truth late in the first film. Keaton reprised her role in The Godfather, Part II, where the character had changed dramatically and was much more embittered about her husband’s activities. Keaton also returned to play Kay Adams in 1990’s The Godfather, Part III.

Diane Keaton has worked with film director Woody Allen many times. Perhaps her best known role was that of the title character in 1977’s Annie Hall.

It was her fourth film project with Allen, and she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for this performance. The film itself also won Best Picture. Annie Hall is a romantic comedy that brought a new level of seriousness to Allen’s work. The film breaks with conventional narrative, as characters often address the camera directly. Diane Keaton played Annie Hall, a ditzy but exuberant character who falls in love with Allen’s character Alvy Singer. Because Keaton’s real name is Diane Hall and she had previously had an affair with Allen, the film is considered to be semi-autobiographical. The character of Annie Hall was definitely written with Keaton in mind.

Nicholson and Keaton, aged 66 and 57 at the time, were considered bold choices to star in a romantic comedy, but the characters had been written with them in mind. In the film, Keaton plays a middle-aged playwright who falls in love with her daughter’s much older boyfriend. The film was a hit, grossing over $125 million in North America, and the following year Keaton received her fourth Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for this role. Keaton and Nicholson had known each other for years before making this film, and remain friends.
